Faith Is Substance

by Tim Davidson | Uncategorized

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

(Heb. 11:1)

Everything that is around us in this world is a substance of some kind. The floor is one substance, the chair is another substance and our clothes are entirely different substances again. Some substances are solids, some liquids, and some are gases. But all substances of the earth are real and are important. Faith is a substance too.

The Message Bible says: “The fundamental fact of existence is that this trust in God, this faith, is the firm foundation under everything that makes life worth living. It’s our handle on what we can’t see.”

Faith is real but not visible to our eyesight. It’s like the wind. The wind is real but you never see the wind, only the effects of it being present. (Branches sway, leaves rustle, etc.) Faith is the spiritual substance of the things we hope for. Like wind, we don’t see the substance of faith, only the effects of it. (Redeemed hearts, healed bodies, renewed minds, calm souls during storms, etc.)

Today’s Thought to Take With You:

Faith is a real substance that isn’t visible to my eye, yet is tangible to my spirit.

Jesus, My Lord
